And whilst it can certainly be beneficial to have the opportunity to speak with colleagues around the world in ‘real time’, the downside is that this can lead to ever-increasing demands on our time. There’s an expectation that we will take calls outside of working hours, and that we will respond immediately to emails – meaning that we rarely get the chance to truly switch off. To relax.
This can leave us feeling anxious, stressed and overwhelmed.
