Here I am!

Finally coming up for air after 4 very intense days with Tony Robbins and Unleash the Power Within.  What a great event – and that’s despite the fact I probably only participated in 55-60% of the LIVE Programme.  My days of 13 hour workdays are long behind me!

That said, I have spent the week (since the event closed) immersed in my notes, reviewing the accompanying workbook, and checking out the Facebook Group to capture any of the lessons I may have missed.

Good Ole Days cover

And whilst listening to the UPW playlist, I came across this song called ‘Good old days’ by Macklemore (whoever he may be) and featuring Kesha.

I won’t bore you with all of the lyrics of the song but the general principle being that what if 15-20 years from now, we look back and see these days as the Good Old Days.

🎶 🎶 I wish somebody would have told me,
Someday – THESE will be the good old days.

Someday soon, your whole life’s gonna change
You’ll miss the magic of these good old days

Wish I didn’t think I had the answers
Wish I didn’t drink all of that flask first
Wish I made it to homecoming
Got up the courage to ask her
Wish I would’ve gotten out of my shell
Wish I put the bottle back on that shelf
Wish I wouldn’t have worried what other people think
And felt comfortable in myself 🎶 🎶

As I was singing along this week, these words really struck a chord.

Wish I wouldn’t have worried about what other people thought.
And felt comfortable in myself.
Wish I would’ve gotten out of my shell.

Aren’t these the reason why most of us ‘settle’ and accept things that we know are no longer right for us?  We are afraid that if we articulate what it is that deep down we really want, then we will have to make changes to our lives.  And those closest to us may not approve, or the changes may bring a financial risk, and may even lead to failure in some way.   Or even more frightening, they may lead to success.  And then what will we do?  If our wish actually comes true?   Are we ready to embrace the success?

You see, there are many reasons why we hold ourselves back from unlocking the courage we all have inside us, setting goals, making plans, and then taking action towards them.  We can decide in our own mind that ‘this will be the year that I ….’ (insert whatever it is you want here), whether it is a lifestyle change, a health goal, a career move.

That’s the easy part.

Ocean with lady

The hard part is sticking to it and doing the work consistently, even when you have run out of enthusiasm, which is why most of us give up after a few days/weeks or months.  Sometimes we use excuses –  we aren’t smart enough or brave enough, or too busy – and we tuck our head back into our shell and hide away, feeling silent shame at our lack of action.

Life isn’t a movie or a novel or a witty article in which a montage of all your best bits is summed up with a pithy headline.  That’s Instagram! 🤣

Life is tough at times and there will surely be moments where staying hidden away in your shell may make it a less scary place to be, but it doesn’t make it any safer.

You only get one life, so you may as well live it doing something that scares you a little, because it could also bring you unimaginable happiness.

What if 10-15 years from now, you look back to realise that these WERE the good old days. Are you doing everything you can to ensure that when you do revisit the memories, you will do so without regret?

What is one thing you could do today that would move you at least one step closer to your dream.   One teeny weeny yet courageous step?

Go do it.  You got this!

x Until next time, sending you love x
