Well as the sun is still shining here in Scotland, I figured today is a good day to talk about HAPPINESS.
I say that because not only does Scotland look spectacularly beautiful when the sun is shining but everyone seems so much happier too. Yes, everyone!

Happiness is our natural state. Think about it. As young children, we are happy much of the time, but as we grow into teenagers and then to adults, happiness can become something quite elusive, something rare, or something that we feel we must work really to achieve.
We even start to question it. Do we deserve to be happy? Can you have little money and still be happy? How can anyone feel happy when there is so much uncertainty in the world right now? All kinds of questions as well as external circumstances, leave us in a state of confusion and don’t bring us any closer the feeling of happiness that we all crave.
The most important thing you can do every day is feel good because when you do, all good things will be attracted to you. The wonderful thing about happiness is that, in a lot of ways, it’s much easier than you might think.
You can either choose a thought that makes you happy or a thought that makes you anxious, and you can make that choice every moment of every day.
Yes indeed – YOU have a choice.
One of the major pieces of the puzzle when it comes to being happy is that you have to start taking responsibility for your own life. A lot of people can feel quite annoyed or angry when they first hear this, but it is really an essential part of being happy or fulfilled.
There are so many people who go through life blaming everyone but themselves, and they are never really very happy about anything. They feel like a victim of life, just along for the ride as opposed to being responsible – being the captain of their own ship. Life simply happens to them. They don’t know what is coming next and they fear change.
It makes sense that if you feel this way, you wouldn’t experience much lasting joy. The brief moments of pleasure would never last because they would feel as if they were going to be snatched out from under you at any moment. Needless to say, this is no way to live.
Taking responsibility for yourself can be really terrifying and even reading the words might cause a feeling of anxiety. But if you recognize that thoughts become things and that we attract whatever it is we think about the most you soon realise that everything that happens come from us.

How can you start owning up to the choices you have made in your life? There are lots of little way to begin and they all involve a simple change in thinking. For example, instead of blaming your boss for causing you to have such a bad day, blame yourself for giving him all of the power. Let’s face it. You can’t change how he or she will behave in any particular moment – but you can change the way you choose to respond.
This whole ‘lack of personal responsibility’ thing is all around us.
People blame their families, their partner, colleagues or others for putting them in a ‘bad mood’. Something happens on the way to work and they feel annoyed about it all day. They walk around feeling blameless and thinking about how this other person ruined everything. Well, guess what? As long as you think that way, you are not in control of your life. You are at the mercy of those around you, and that is not good. In every situation, you get to choose how to react. You can choose to have your day ruined, or you can choose to laugh it off and pay attention to something that is actually really important.
People have their own issues, problems and troubles but whether you take them on and whether you let them affect your personally is entirely up to you. It is your choice and it is not being forced on you. Let other people’s stuff be their stuff. Let it pass you by as if it has nothing to do with you because the truth is, it doesn’t.
Let’s begin to take responsibility for everything from this moment on. Otherwise, along your path to live the life you really want, when things don’t go the way you would like, you won’t consider making any changes because it won’t be ‘your fault’. You will never make any progress that way and you will never learn anything that way.
When you make the effort to view every day as a fantastic, opportunity laden treasure, you can really make the most of it, and the world will truly be yours.
