Wow! It’s the first of September already. How did that happen??
I am coming to you this week from the City of Lights – Paris!
I will be spending 5 days in this beautiful city, working with my coach & mentor – to expand my own personal growth and further develop my coaching skills – so that I may support you to achieve all that YOU desire.
Oh, and I will be joined by 150 incredible women from every corner of the globe too!
This IS my life and there are moments when I just have to pinch myself. Is this really happening? Did I really create this? When I left my Corporate job after 25 years and set out down this path – my goal was clear. I wanted to create a FREEDOM based lifestyle – a life in which I could live and work from anywhere in the world… though I had absolutely no idea HOW! But coaching is what I was born to do. I know that now. And I can see that every decision I have made in the last 10 years has led me to this very point.
I left school when I was 16 years of age with a handful of O’ Levels and a single desire. ‘To work in an office’. I am being completely honest with you when I tell you that was the full extent of my dream. I had absolutely no idea WHAT I wanted to DO – but even at such a young age, it seems I had more clarity around who I wanted to BE. Before the summer ended, I was employed in the offices of Whyte & Mackay Distillers in Glasgow and for the next 25 years invested my heart and soul in building a successful career in the drinks industry. And I did it because I loved it – there was no other place I wanted to be. My career meant everything to me.
By the time of my 40th Birthday, I was working with Bacardi and based in New Zealand. And though turning 30 had been a very negative experience for me, turning 40 felt truly liberating. As I celebrated my first ever birthday in the sunshine, it struck me that I had crossed a thresh-hold. I no longer had to work to ‘prove myself’ to anyone.
I could just be ME. I could have fun.
And with that single change in mindset, I started to see things and opportunities quite differently. I was more open to the adventurous and daring. At any other point in my career, I feel certain I would have turned down the opportunity to relocate to Shanghai but turning 40 meant it was a risk that I was prepared to take …. And ultimately, the single/best decision I ever made in my life.
Since then, everything has changed. I have left the drinks industry behind and embarked on my very own ‘Journey of Discovery’ – investing in me and retraining as a Lifestyle, Leadership & Success Coach. I am learning and growing every single day and it feels so good.
